Role narrative
Jared Boyd won the Union County Circuit Court seat in the May 2024 primary, defeating incumbent Judge Wes Williams. Retired Senior Judge Russ West published a public letter during the campaign noting that every former 10th Judicial District judge -- Eric Valentine (1983-2003), Brian Dretke (2012-2017), and sitting Presiding Judge Thomas Powers (2017-present) -- had endorsed Boyd. Williams retired early in October 2024.
Boyd previously appeared as a Director on the Mt. Emily Safe Center board in 2014. Jill Boyd is listed as MESC Chair from 2014 to 2016 on the same filing series. The source dossier also reports OHA/GOBHI employment but does not provide a date establishing that role as current.
The source dossier places Boyd's former MESC role, his spouse's reported OHA/GOBHI employment, and the 2024 judicial endorsements in the same relationship map. Those facts do not establish that Boyd participated in EOCCO governance or that any relationship affected a court decision.
